In our quest for the ultimate subwoofer, we turned to true innovators in the field - the team at Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) who were exceptionally creative. We replaced the typical 18" speaker in this size of cabinet with four 10" speakers, creating the perfect companion for our s408 full-range speakers. Looking at a typical subwoofer, an 18" speaker provides a very slow transient response and requires a significant amount of power to deliver its sound. So, we ditched the 18" and replaced it with four smaller 10" speakers. Surprisingly, these provide a larger membrane surface area than a single 18", resulting in tight and precise bass. Lastly, the four 10" speakers are far more efficient. Integrated 180Hz low pass filter Another great feature of the s410s is the integrated precise and high-quality 180Hz LP filter. This eliminates the need for an external active crossover when connecting the s410s with the s408 full-range speakers. Simply connect the amplifier to the speakon connector on the rear panel of the s410s, and connect the s408 to the remaining one, and you have a perfectly passive divided 3-way sound system. *Although an external crossover is not required, its use will ensure even better overall efficiency. Power Thanks to an extremely efficient design, the s408 can be powered by very low-power amplifiers and still provide the listener with surprising acoustic performance. But to unleash their full potential, connect them to a high-quality and powerful amplifier and elevate yourself to a whole new level of sound quality. The s410s are likely the closest thing to concert-quality sound on the market, all at an unbeatably favorable price. Quality construction and craftsmanship The s410s are made of high-quality 18mm Baltic birch plywood and coated with durable PVC spray. These speakers are built to withstand rough handling that can sometimes occur during transport.
