The second knob controls the volume, and the Desktop/Bookshelf switch on the rear panel adjusts the internal optimization for near-field or far-field listening. When it's time for quiet nights or isolation from your surroundings, you can use the headphone output.
The Mackie CR5BT monitors are sold as a pair, with one monitor powering the other through a speaker cable. They feature balanced TRS inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs, and a stereo input for quick connection to your phone or laptop.
