Despite its small size, the XB-10 features a range of special broadcast functions typically found on much more expensive consoles. Broadcast features include a dedicated Telco channel, switch with indication on each microphone channel, stereo channel outputs with START/CUE function for CD players, and automatic mute (MUTE) for speaker outputs. A separate mix channel can be created for studio monitoring - for operators, guests, or hosts. With the TALK function, the host can communicate with others in the studio and callers over the phone line. The XB-10 preamps are equipped with low-noise discrete transistor circuits for high gain and excellent linearity. Each microphone channel features the innovative Allen&Heath CompACT compressor for perfect control of the moderator's microphone signal dynamic range. A variable limiter on the main output ensures that the final mix broadcasted does not overload expensive broadcast equipment. The plug-n-play USB connection can be used for internet phone calls (VoIP), sound recording, playing jingles, and more. XB-10 features a built-in full-duplex USB sound card and many useful routing options for recording and broadcasting. The sensitive 3-band EQ offers the innovative MusiQ function, which optimizes the Q factor depending on the amount of boost or cut in that band for a musically pleasing setting. The variable limiter on the outputs ensures that the preset level is not exceeded. It can be switched on/off with switches on the rear panel. The Trim potentiometer controls the Threshold, and the LED on the front panel indicates limiter activity. Low signal levels are boosted, mid-level signals are gently compressed with a soft-knee curve, and high levels are limited.
