4-channel transformer-based balancing and isolation unit
The Rane BB 44x is a balancing unit. It is a professional device used to separate and convert signals between unbalanced consumer audio lines and balanced professional equipment lines. It converts unbalanced -10dBV from RCA connectors to balanced +4dBU with XLR connectors. Additionally, it allows for this conversion to be done in reverse simultaneously. The BB 44x converts one pair of unbalanced signals to balanced and the other pair vice versa. It features 4 RCA connectors, 2 XLR outputs, and 2 XLR inputs.
Furthermore, the BB 44x can be expanded with the OPT88, which doubles its capacity, all within a 1U chassis.
Unbalanced signal cables should not exceed a length of 3m to avoid distortion and noise induction. The BB 44x enables signal conversion to balanced, which can be transmitted over significantly longer distances without concerns about quality loss.
By utilizing only passive, exceptionally high-quality transformers for signal conversion, the BB 44x does not introduce any noise or interference to the signal.
