Rane SM-26S

The Rane SM 26S is an exceptionally useful yet relatively unique product. It is a splitter-mixer that, in its basic configuration, mixes 6 inputs into 2 outputs. It can accommodate 6 balanced or unbalanced inputs, each with independently adjustable level controls and pan (which side the signal will be assigned to, in simple terms: balance). When using additional Master inputs, you can connect up to 8 input signals. The result of this mix is sent to the Master outputs via L+R 6.3mm jacks on the rear panel. In splitter mode, you can connect one or two line inputs to the SM 26S and distribute them into six mono outputs at the back. The mix/pan controls in this mode determine which input's volume level will be passed to the respective output. The internal setup allows the MIX out outputs to become independent stereo outputs, increasing the total number of outputs to 8. The SM 26S can also be used as a multi-channel level controller. In this case, the signal from input 1 is sent to output 1 and so forth, with the controls determining their individual volumes. The SM 26S also allows for a combination of different modes simultaneously. For example, inputs 1 to 3 can be mixed into L/R outputs, while the input signal from the Master inputs is routed to outputs 4 and 5, with output 6 only carrying the signal connected to input 6 (in level control mode). On the front panel, you will find a knob for controlling the Master input level, six knobs for channel levels 1-6, and another six knobs for their mix/pan, as well as a knob for the Master output level. The rear panel offers 2 (LR) master inputs, six channel inputs, six channel outputs, and two (LR) master outputs.
