Rane AM-2 • 8-channel microphone preamplifier • RAD port • RJ-45 cascading expansion port • dimensions 483x216x44 (mm) • weight 2.4 kg
AM-2 is an eight-channel microphone preamplifier with shared gain and Rane RAD device. It can be used as a standalone microphone mixer or add up to seven additional AM-2 units. Using a CAT5 cable and the RAD port, the main mix output can be digitally sent to a Rane HAL device or Rane Mongoose (CobraNet). Each of the eight XLR microphone inputs includes level control. The rear panel features a three-position switch with options for: dynamic microphone, condenser microphone with +48V phantom power, or wireless receiver (+12 dBV max). All inputs include signal and overload indication. AM-2 is optimized for automatic voice mixing. The microphone inputs include a fixed band-pass filter (80 Hz - 7 kHz) for the best possible automatic voice mixing. The main XLR output can be set to microphone or line level. When AM-2 is used as an independent mixer, both outputs (main XLR and RAD) are affected by the output level control on the front panel. When cascaded with additional AM-1 or AM-2 units, only the XLR output is affected by the control. The USB port is solely for firmware updates. The key features of AM-2 are:
Inputs:
• 8x XLR input with level control and signal and overload indication
- selection of dynamic microphone, condenser (+48V), or line
Outputs:
• XLR main output with microphone/line level switch
- level control
- signal and overload indication
• Rane RAD and RJ-45 cascading port
- cascade connection of up to 7 additional AM-2 units
- RAD port sends output to HAL or Mongoose DSP unit (CobraNet)
