The AM-1 can be used as a standalone microphone/line mixer. By using the automatic mixer Rane AM-2, additional microphone inputs can be added. For main mix transmission, the RAD port (CAT5 cable) can be used to connect with a Rane HAL-1 device or with a Rane Mongoose (CobraNet). Each of the four XLR microphone inputs includes an input gain control on the front panel and a three-position switch with options for dynamic microphone, condenser microphone with +48V phantom power, or for wireless receivers (+12 dBV max.). The AM-1 is optimized for automatic mixing of spoken word. The microphone inputs have a fixed band-pass filter (80 Hz - 7 kHz) for the best possible automatic mixing of human voice.
